The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said the H1N1 virus is causing an unprecedented amount of infections for early fall. The increasing number of child deaths because of H1N1 illustrates the urgency for manufacturers to produce the vaccines quickly. According to the CDC, at least 86 children had died from H1N1 as of last week. Typically, 40-50 child deaths are reported for the entire flu season.
