Dr. Hank Orejuela, Ph.D., Member, Board of Regents and Senior Fellow
Dr. Hank Orejuela’s experience and professional accomplishments span both government and private industry, and he has been a leader in the Defense Industry. Dr. Orejuela founded Applied Systems Analytics LLC in 2011 providing Intelligence, IT and Advanced Technology consulting for DoD and other departments of the U.S. government. He supports the Rapid Reaction Technology Office within the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense (Research and Engineering, ASD(R&E) and also recently participated in a comprehensive study for ASD(R&E), addressing the future use of Microelectronics in DoD programs and systems. From 2004-2010, he was the CEO of Space and Defense Systems, Inc. (SDSI) a technology and engineering firm that applied advanced signal processing techniques to solve challenging DOD problems. Dr. Orejuela also personally supported the launch and operation of the DeVenCI program in the office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense (Research and Engineering) from 2006 through 2010. This effort involved finding advanced technology products and technology in the commercial sector and matching them with the needs of DoD and other US government organizations. Dr. Orejuela was instrumental in the development and successful execution of the DeVenCI process. His Navy career encompassed technical and operational assignments in the U.S., Europe and Asia. He retired with the rank of Captain, USN. Dr. Orejuela heads the Advisory Board of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at George Mason University and is a member of the Steering Committee of the Security Innovation Network. He is on the Technical Advisory Board of Sanmina-SCI and several small companies. He holds B.S. Chemical Engineering (Purdue University) and Ph.D. Communications Engineering (Naval Postgraduate School) degrees.
