"Combating Terrorism:
Lessons from the Middle East, North Africa, the Sahel, and Beyond"

Since 9/11, security challenges with grave global implications have emerged in the Middle East, Africa, and other regions. Terrorists networks, particularly al-Qa’ida and the newly-formed Daesh, are expanding their deadly operations across an arc of instability that exists without borders.

In the aftermath of the latest attacks in Brussels, Istanbul, and California, the key question is whether there are any short and long-term strategic policies and actions that can more effectively combat multiple threats to a functioning system of world order.

These and related topics such as the role of America, the European community, NATO, the Arab League, the African Union, and other actors were discussed by experts with extensive government, diplomatic, and academic experience.
